Student-led Innovations Take Center Stage at ESO Sustainability Fair 2025

MUSCAT: The Environment Society of Oman (ESO) proudly hosted the 2025
Sustainability Fair, bringing together 12 private schools to showcase innovative
solutions for a greener future. Held on February 25 at Sheraton Oman Hotel, the
event highlighted student-led projects addressing key environmental challenges
and alignment with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Now in its fourth edition, the fair was previously managed by the Oman American
Business Council (OABC). This year, ESO took the lead as the primary organizer,
reinforcing its commitment to environmental education, youth empowerment
and community involvement in Oman.

In addition to the dynamic lineup of student-driven projects, the exhibition
showcased university students, small and medium enterprises (SMEs), businesses,
governmental organizations, and innovators presenting real-world sustainability
solutions. These exhibitors were selected to participate for their commitment,
expertise and insights in promoting environmental stewardship and as inspiration
to future generations and the community at large. A key highlight of the event
was the awards ceremony, where top projects were recognized across multiple
categories:
 Best Presentation: ABQ Azzan Bin Qais International School
 Most Innovative Idea: International School of Oman
 Most Practical Implementation: ABA Oman International School
 Overall Winner: Hay Al-Sharooq International School

The event’s success was amplified by the support of key sponsors. Sheraton Oman
Hotel part of the Marriott Business Council Group, served as the Venue Partner,
providing a welcoming space and refreshments for attendees. Bauer Nimr,
globally renowned for developing the largest commercially constructed wetland

in the world, continued since its inception as the Main Sponsor, while Apex
Publishing ensured dedicated media coverage as the Media Partner.

“This event aligns with ESO’s core mission to raise community awareness about
environmental conservation and sustainable practices,” said ESO Board Member
Dr. Ali Akaak. “Our primary focus is on engaging students and youth, nurturing the
values and behaviors that will drive long-term environmental stewardship.”
More than just a school event, ESO Sustainability Fair 2025 served as a hub for
inspiration and knowledge exchange, spotlighting emerging sustainability trends
and fostering meaningful discussions. With over 30 exhibits and more than 300
participants, the fair promoted a shared culture of environmental responsibility
and action.
